Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 1 January 2025  ·  Effective: 1 January 2025

Summary

These terms govern your use of the Teratai Hikmah website and your participation in our programmes. By submitting an enquiry or enrolment, you indicate your acceptance of these terms. If you have questions before enrolling, we welcome you to call or write to us.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:

  • "Teratai Hikmah", "we", "us" or "our" means the financial education provider operating at 18 Jalan Kelang Lama, 58000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  • "Website" means the site operated at terataihikmah.cyou.
  • "Programme" means any of the education offerings described on this website — the Garden Walk on Personal Finance, Reading the Fund Factsheet Carefully, and the Whole-Picture Retirement Engagement.
  • "Participant" means any person who enrols in a Programme.
  • "Enrolment" means a confirmed booking of a place in a Programme following receipt of payment.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using this website or submitting an enrolment, you confirm that you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Policy, and our Cookie Policy.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the website or enrol in a Programme.

3. Programme Enrolment

3.1 Eligibility

Our programmes are designed primarily for adults aged 40 and above who are resident in Malaysia. There are no formal qualifications required. Some programmes require a minimum level of Bahasa Malaysia or English literacy for participation.

3.2 How to Enrol

Enrolment is completed by contacting us via the website form, email or telephone to confirm your interest, receiving written confirmation of a place and the payment amount, and completing payment within the period stated in our confirmation.

3.3 Confirmation

Enrolment is confirmed only upon receipt of payment and the issue of a written confirmation from Teratai Hikmah. An enquiry alone does not reserve a place.

4. Fees and Payment

4.1 Programme Fees

Current programme fees are as stated on this website:

  • Garden Walk on Personal Finance — RM 620 per participant
  • Reading the Fund Factsheet Carefully — RM 1,490 per participant
  • Whole-Picture Retirement Engagement — RM 2,810 per engagement

All fees are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes where required by law.

4.2 Payment Terms

Full payment is required to confirm enrolment unless a written payment arrangement has been agreed with us in advance. Payment details will be provided in our confirmation correspondence.

4.3 Fee Changes

We reserve the right to adjust programme fees for future cohorts. Once your enrolment is confirmed and payment received, the fee for that cohort will not change.

5. Cancellation and Refunds

5.1 Cancellation by Participant

If you need to withdraw from a programme after confirming enrolment, the following conditions apply:

  • More than 14 calendar days before the programme begins: Full refund, less any bank or transfer charges.
  • 7 to 14 calendar days before the programme begins: 50% refund of the programme fee.
  • Fewer than 7 calendar days before the programme begins: No refund. At our discretion, we may offer a transfer to a subsequent cohort.

All cancellation requests must be made in writing to [email protected].

5.2 Cancellation by Teratai Hikmah

In the event that we are required to cancel a programme (for example, due to insufficient enrolments or unforeseen circumstances), we will notify you as early as practicable and offer either a full refund or a transfer to an alternative cohort. We will not be liable for any losses beyond the programme fee paid.

5.3 Programme Changes

We reserve the right to make reasonable adjustments to programme content, scheduling or format. Where a change is material, we will inform enrolled participants in advance.

6. Participant Conduct

Participants are expected to engage with sessions respectfully and to observe the reasonable requests of the educator. We reserve the right to remove a participant from a programme for conduct that is disruptive, disrespectful or harmful to other participants. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

Programme materials provided by Teratai Hikmah are for the personal use of the enrolled participant only and may not be reproduced, distributed or shared without our written consent.

7. Nature of Our Programmes

Teratai Hikmah provides financial education — the structured improvement of financial literacy and the ability to read, understand and consider financial documents and planning concepts.

Our programmes do not constitute financial advice, investment advice, legal advice or tax advice. We do not recommend specific financial products, funds, or investment decisions, and nothing communicated in our programmes should be construed as such a recommendation.

For advice on your individual financial circumstances, we encourage you to consult a licensed financial planner or adviser.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on this website and all programme materials — including texts, exercises, worksheets and structured frameworks — are the intellectual property of Teratai Hikmah or its licensed contributors. You may not reproduce, adapt, republish or commercially exploit any of this content without our prior written consent.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Teratai Hikmah will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of this website or participation in our programmes.

Our total liability to you in respect of any claim relating to a programme will not exceed the programme fee paid by you.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Malaysian courts.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of the website or participation in programmes after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
